Paraguay - Paraguayan Recipes

Paraguay - Paraguayan Recipes

The cuisineof Paraguay has been influenced by many European cultures, particularly Spanish as well as the indigenous people of South America.. But, the traditional food of Paraguay has its roots firmed in the ground of the country itself. The two ingredients, that make the base for the gastronomy of Paraguay, are cassava and corn. Varieties of the traditional food in Paraguay are prepared from these staple grains of Paraguay.

National dishes of Paraguay are sopa paraguaya (soup of mashed corn, cheese, milk and onions); chipas (mandioca bread flavored with cheese); soo-yosopy (a soup of cornmeal and ground beef); palmitos (palm hearts); surubí (a fish found in the Paraná)
